Netflix recently announced viewers will once again be able to watch a TV program that features Volodymyr Zelensky before he became president of Ukraine. The streaming giant said
“Servant of the People,” a Ukrainian comedy series where Zelensky plays a high school teacher-turned-commander in chief, is now accessible to Netflix customers in the United States.
The show was available to stream before the license expired in February of last year. The decision to renew the program came amid Zelensky’s virtual speech to Congress, in which he urged lawmakers to “close the sky above Ukraine” with a no-fly zone in the aftermath of Russia’s incursion. However, a Netflix representative would not comment on the company’s decision to bring back the political comedy.
Since the crisis began last month, Zelensky, 44, has been portrayed in the media as a hero for his response to Russia’s military onslaught.
