Residents of San Francisco were taken aback when a man was seen climbing the Salesforce Tower without a harness. The San Francisco Fire Department asked residents to stay away from the area at 10 a.m. local time. The climber, calling himself “Pro Life Spiderman” on social media was apprehended by the San Francisco Police Department about an hour later.
The climber, whose real name is Maison Des Champs, posted a video of himself scaling the structure and called attention to a recent story of several aborted babies found in Washington D.C. He also asked people to donate to anti-abortion groups by visiting his website, stating, “The charities that I have chosen seek to financially support abortion-minded women to prevent them from having abortions. They do not scream at women, they do not blame women, they only offer help.”
His San Francisco protest follows news of leaked documents revealing that The Supreme Court appears to be leaning toward overturning Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 decision that legalized abortion nationwide. The draft document noted that “the authority to regulate abortion must be returned to the people and their elected representatives.” However, the ruling is not finalized and the formal decision is likely to come in the next six to eight weeks.
In August, Des Champs also protested Nevada’s COVID-19 restrictions by climbing the 600-foot Aria Hotel in Las Vegas and posted a video of other protesters chanting “U-S-A!”
