Florida Man Suffers Arm Loss in Terrifying Alligator Attack at Local Bar

A man in Port Charlotte, Florida lost his arm in an alligator attack behind a bar, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The 23-year-old man was attacked in the early hours of Sunday morning behind Banditos Bar, located next to a pond. The man was screaming and swimming towards the shore when a patron named Manny Hidalgo found and rescued him.

The incident occurred in the darkness, and Hidalgo was afraid to approach the water. The victim was immediately evacuated by helicopter to Fort Myers’ Gulf Coast Hospital. There, his arm was amputated, says Todd Dunn, a Charlotte County Fire and EMS spokesperson. Wildlife officials removed a 10.5-foot-long alligator from the property, and it will be considered a nuisance alligator.
