The ex-husband and former in-laws of slain Hong Kong model and influencer Abby Choi appeared in court Monday to face a joint charge of murder. Choi had been missing since February 19th and her dismembered body was found in a refrigerator in a house rented by her ex-husband’s father, Kwong Kau, last Friday. A skull believed to be that of Choi was also discovered in a cooking pot.
As we previously reported, the four accused are Alex Kwong, Choi’s ex-husband, his father Kwong Kau, his brother Anthony Kwong, and his mother Jenny Li. Kwong Kau and Alex Kwong were charged with murder while Li and Anthony Kwong were charged with perverting the course of justice.
Choi was a mother of four and a popular influencer in Hong Kong. She was reportedly known to be generous and kind, always willing to help others. Unfortunately, she had been embroiled in financial disputes with her ex-husband and his family.
On Monday, the court heard that Choi’s body had multiple wounds, indicating that a sharp object was used in her killing. Moreover, her body parts had been wrapped in plastic and there was evidence of cleaning up at the crime scene. The accused pleaded not guilty and the trial is set to resume in August.
