Mexican soldiers clash with border residents after shooting

On April 28th, a violent altercation occurred between Mexican army soldiers and residents of Nuevo Laredo, a border city in Mexico. The incident resulted in at least three fatalities, with videos of the altercation surfacing on social media.

The cause of the altercation is still unclear, although some reports suggest that the incident may have been sparked by soldiers firing into a pickup truck earlier in the day. In the videos, residents can be seen scuffling with the soldiers.

Rights activist Raymundo Ramos has spoken out on the matter, claiming that the troops used indiscriminate force. Soldiers reportedly fired both toward the moving vehicles and at residents during the ensuing altercation.

The incident has sparked outrage in the region, with many questioning the role of the military in Nuevo Laredo. The city is known to be dominated by the Northeast drug cartel, and according to the Associated Press has been the scene of human rights violations at the hands of the military.

The Mexican government has promised to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
