Former adult film star Lana Rhoades says porn should be illegal

Former adult film star Lana Rhoades is criticizing the field that helped launch her career and said it should be “illegal.” Between 2016 and 2017, Rhoades—real name Amara Maple, worked in the industry for eight months, making appearances in more than 250 X-rated movies. During a conversation on “The Skinny Confidential Him & Her” podcast, the 26-year-old brunette admitted to still being traumatized by the industry, saying, “I just I don’t think that it’s good for anyone. They should make it illegal.”

Rhoades, who recently disclosed she had a child with an anonymous NBA player, claims she was clueless about what she was getting into when she starred in her first x-rated film at 19. She claimed he had only been intimate with one person before she entered the industry and explained, “For some reason I never comprehended that to do porn you actually have to have sex with people.”

She said the glamorous lives of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends on the TV series “The Girls Next Door” inspired her to get into pornography, stating, “I watched the show and I was like… their lives look so glamorous compared to mine.” Rhoades worked as a waitress and a stripper before moving to Los Angeles from Illinois to start her porn career, where she quickly found success.

On the podcast, she discussed how she hated the feeling of “performing,” saying, “It’s like circus acts. As a performer, when I was doing it, it was like ‘What face can I make?’, ‘What sound can I make?’, ‘What can I do in this movie to make it the best one?’” She also noted that the industry was “infested with drugs and alcohol abuse.” While she claimed she quit porn in 2017, she continued to record and release amateur videos with her then-partner. She now works as a model and fashion designer.

Rhoades also made headlines recently when she claimed an NBA star was the father of her 9-month-old baby.
