Veteran golf commentator David Feherty has parted ways with the NBC broadcast team for the LIV Golf tour. The New York Post reports Feherty will provide analysis for the 8-to-10 annual LIV Golf tournaments. Former NBC soccer analyst Arlo White has also been hired by LIV Golf to serve as a host. Additionally, NBA analyst Charles Barkley of TNT recently indicated that he was in talks with LIV Golf about appearing on some of their programs.
Feherty, 63, has a reputation for being irreverent. He first worked with CBS for more than 20 years before transferring to NBC and later The Golf Channel. The native of Northern Ireland recently took part in NBC’s weekend coverage of the British Open.
The LIV Golf Tour, which is sponsored by Saudi Arabia, has drawn criticism due to the nation’s involvement in the murder of writer Jamal Khashoggi and the country’s dismal track record concerning human rights. The group 9/11 Justice has requested that former president Donald Trump rescind LIV Golf’s upcoming event, which is scheduled to take place at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey.
