Former NBA player Delonte West allegedly spotted panhandling in Virginia

Former NBA star Delonte West was reportedly seen in a viral video panhandling on Richmond Highway in Alexandria, Virginia, over the weekend, in the latest episode of a tragic narrative. In recent years, the 38-year-old has battled substance abuse and mental health issues in the public eye. The eight-year NBA veteran has also revealed that he suffers from bipolar disorder.

In January 2020, when a disturbing video of a shirtless, bleeding West in custody circulated, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban intervened to assist West in getting into a treatment facility. West appeared to have gotten his feet back under him after a relapse and subsequent arrest in October. He’d gotten back into shape with the hopes of making Ice Cube’s BIG3 3-on-3 basketball league this summer. His name was added to the league’s draft pool in April, but he was not chosen.

West is most known for his time with the Mavericks, Cavaliers, and Celtics. He last played in the NBA in 2012 but continued to play professionally until 2015.
