Former Attorney General William Barr writes in a new book that President Trump has “shown he has neither the temperament nor persuasive powers to provide the kind of positive leadership that is needed,” and that it is time for Republicans to move on.
The release of the former Attorney General’s book, “One Damn Thing After Another,” is coming soon. Considering that Donald Trump remains the GOP’s dominant figure, another presidential run might be on his mind after comments over the weekend from his CPAC speech. Mr. Barr wrote that if Trump had exercised more self-restraint, he could have won the 2020 election.
“The election was not ‘stolen’, ” Barr writes. “Trump lost it.” While certain policies from the Trump position continue to develop in the Republican party, Barr urges conservatives to look to “an impressive array of younger candidates” who share Trump’s agenda but not his “erratic personal behavior.”
A Trump spokesman has yet to comment on Barr’s release, however last summer, he called his former attorney general “a disappointment in every sense of the word.”
The release by Mr. Barr on his time in the Trump administration is interesting, considering he was one of the highest level secretaries in the cabinet, as well as vilified by the Democrat Party for allegedly not remaining neutral as an apolitical law-enforcement official but rather filling a defense attorney position on the President’s legal team.
It is scheduled for release March 8 by the William Morrow imprint of HarperCollins.
